Holgans Are Dead collects the last six tracks from this iteration of Calgary psych-pop dreamers Holgans—songwriter Ryan Bourne (also of Sleepkit and Chad VanGaalen & the Bleach Wipes) and vocalist/visual artist Kiarra Albina, with friends. Produced between 2013-15 by Bourne, Holgans Are Dead hits the psychedelic sweet spot: swirling pop rocks in the nature-drone served lush and spellbound, oozing with serene depth and texture.

Some especially trippy winds through the first half: the sway of “Seagreen Way” to the fractured sunlight of opener “Luvdrugs”, and the ripping delay trails of “Running Colour”. On the flip, a track called “Bleak Jams” still sounds like a joyful racket before the trip of “Winterling”, Albina’s ghostly voice swirling in snowdrifts of guitar before the everlasting spring. “Pynk Slyme” slinks off in denouement, marching: “Holgans Are Dead, Long Live Holgans”!
